Grouping

In order to reduce landscape management complexity, Pack Forest was divided into six ecological groups. A representative or average stand was then chosen from each group. The groups are based on attributes such as age, site index, and species composition. The histograms below graphically demonstrate the groupings and are linked to enlarged views of the charts.

Using the general group traits shown in the charts above, it is simple to assign individual stands to each of the groups. The group stand assignments table lists stands in each group and provides the names of the representative stands. The map below provides a geographical representation of stand assignments.

The links to the left of the map provide group descriptions and maps.

Pathways

For each group, 15 realistic silvicultural pathways were developed. A wide range of pathways were selected to consider the different possible stand structures that could be obtained through time.
