Welcome to the University of Washington Food Service at Charles Lathrop Pack Experimental Forest. In addition to students and faculty, many groups enjoy meeting at a remote facility such as Pack Forest. Groups are subject to the conditions and restrictions required by Pack Forest and the College of Forest Resources. If you have not yet made arrangements, call Goergiann Crouchet at (360) 832-6534, ext 229, or (206) 685-4485 ext. 229.

In order to facilitate your use of food service, please note the following requirements. These requirements are designed to keep down your cost and enable us to make the most efficient use of our staff and supplies. Most importantly, they are set up to ensure a smooth and positive experience for your participants.

Planning

Contact Food Service Coordinator: Georgainn Crouchet (360) 832-6534 ext 229, to discuss the preliminary food service needs for your group immediately after you reserve space at the Pack Forest Conference Center. Have ready the estimated number of delegates, first and last meal, and special requests such as salmon barbeque or mealtime change. Do you have anyone with special dietary needs or any vegetarians?

Estimate

A written estimate will be sent giving an estimated cost, guarantee date, a request for an agenda.

Guarantee

Two weeks prior to the arrival of your group, a guaranteed count is required. This is the minimum amount you will be charged. These counts may vary from meal to meal. Any number above the count will be added, any count will be charged the guarantee amount. Although we have some flexibility, last minute changes may have an impact on the quality and selection available.

Meals

Meals are served cafeteria style. Standard meal hours are: Breakfast 7 a.m., Lunch 12 noon; Dinner 6 p.m. Food is served for one-half hour per 50 people at the specified time. Arriving late affects the food quality. When there is more than one group in the house, menus may change. Please remember the dining hall is not a meeting space and needs to be cleared after each use.

Breaks

You will be provided a selection of break item along with your written estimate. We are happy to accommodate your coffee and break request. Break service is delivered to your meeting or social room per your specifications. It is your responsibility to give accurate time and location information related to break service. No outside food is allowed other than evening social beverages.

Sack Meals

Sack Meals can be provided for group outings. This request must be given no later than guarantee date. Standard pickup time is after breakfast when served. All meals are to be picked up at one time. The exact number of sack lunches are prepared and cannot be increased at the time or pickup.

On-Site

Often the individual making the arrangements does not attend. It is important that upon arrival the on-site facilitator checks in with the lead cook to review the entire schedule. The facilitator is to advise any vegetarians to check in with the kitchen prior to meal times.

Acts of Nature

One of the challenges of a remote site is that the act of nature have a definite impact on food service. Fire bans change barbeque service to in-house service. Power outages and delivery difficulties may cause meal changes.

Thank you for selecting the University of Washington Food Service for your event. We look forward to working with you, sharing your remote site experience and seeing you again soon.
